Top Car Conventions In The US You Can't Miss

North American International Auto Show

What better way to start off the year than joining automakers, journalists, and car enthusiasts from around the world in Detroit each January at the annual North American International Auto Show. Five shows in one, this convention brings together hundreds of companies and the latest news from automakers. Preview what Ford, Chrysler, and GM have in store as well as a seven million dollar collection of cars from Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Porsche among others.

Chicago Auto Show

The Chicago Auto Show is the largest in North America. Braving the February cold in Chicago is well worth it to see nearly 1,000 vehicles on display from almost every major automaker. Exhibits include domestic and imported cars, trucks, and SUVs. This is the show for anyone with a niche interest in autos since attendees can view an impressive display of experimental, concept, collector, and antique vehicles.

Monterey Car Week

This week-long event in August is a string of shows and other happenings all throughout the Monterey area. From an automotive film festival to a show dedicated exclusively to little cars, Monterey Car Week has something for every kind of auto enthusiast. Muscle car fans take note: several of the scheduled events are muscle car auctions. If your tastes are more classic, you can check out a show like the Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance presented by Rolex.

Los Angeles Auto Show

Each November in Los Angeles, the auto industry pulls out all their newest ideas and best accomplishments for the public to see. There are over 100 cars available for test driving and 1,000 cars on exhibition in four halls. New this year is a technology exhibit featuring the latest “mobility tech” where you can check out e-bikes, hoverboards, and rocket skates.

SEMA Los Angeles

SEMA is another auto show in Los Angeles during November, and it’s all about the nuts and bolts of the auto world. This trade-only convention hosts exhibits for the tools, equipment, accessories, tires, and technology at the cutting edge of the industry. SEMA includes an entire exhibit hall devoted to trucks, SUVs, and off roading vehicles.

Atlanta International Car Show

Atlanta is home to its own international car show, an event held each March to showcase what manufacturers have in store for the upcoming year. The show includes 400 cars from dozens of manufacturers, including high performance cars and a selection of vintage and exotic vehicles. Their test driving program is thoroughly organized, with an online list of the make and models available to try. As long as they are eight years of age or older, kids can ride along too.

Orange County Auto Show

Each October, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Orange County, automakers bring their yearly offering of new cars for the public to see and test drive. It showcases the latest technology in the auto industry with hands-on exhibits and demonstrations. This is also a family-friendly auto show, as admission for kids under thirteen is free.

New York Auto Show

Since 1900, the New York Auto Show has been the largest-attended auto show in North America. Along with the typical offering of new and concept cars, this week-long car show in April provides educational opportunities for young enthusiasts. Children of all ages can attend with their school and learn about the engineering and innovation that goes into making the nation’s best cars. Educational programs span a week and are divided according to grade levels.

So what are you waiting for? Get out on the road to some of the best auto shows in the country. You’ll be glad you did.
